The Future of Things to Come

I had a guy ask me out on a date.  And it wasn't Husband.

This guy is much, much shorter than I, yet I considered his offer and accepted, with Husband approval.

No, Husband hasn't lost his ever lovin' mind, nor have I.  Ya see, the guy that asked me on a date is Cute Little Fella.

I took him and his Cute Sis home on Monday, or was it Tuesday, no matter, as we were driving home he said 'Veronica, will you come watch me play Thursday?'

How could I turn down such a sweet invitation?

Thursday came and Husband and I trekked to the local ballpark to watch CLF and his team, The Batmen.  I wonder, how did they come up with their name?

CLF did pretty well, got a hit his first at bat.  His coach, his uncle, gave him some encouragement 'run faster, quit jogging', which he did.

He turned on the after burners and scored a run.

As Husband and I watched CLF play, I also observed the others around me.  The ballpark mamas in particular.  It was interesting to say the least.

You know how there are 'pageant mamas'?  Well, ballpark mamas are right up there with them.

The thought came to me that in seven or eight years Daughter might be one of those ballpark mamas.  Then I came to my senses and knew that she would never be like the ballpark mamas I saw.  I also realized that I will be the grandmama sitting in the lawn chair watching the kiddos.

I wonder how well I'll fit that mold?  Meh, no matter, as long as grandson-to-be flashes one of these I'll be fine sitting in lawn chairs cheering him on.

Oh, CLF's team won, they were ahead 13-0 at the end of the third inning.

He Is The Champ

I must give a shout out to one of my students.

Davin Murphree.

Sophomore.

Pole Vault.

State Division 2A Champion.

Winning height: 15 feet.
(Mmmmm, yeah, that's fourteen feet higher than I'd care to jump).

Great kid.

Future olympian?  Maybe.

Yes, for those of you who are wondering, his grandmama is
the famous/infamous Mrs. Murphree of
Pre-Cal and Calculus fame.

He was one happy kid on Monday as he walked the halls of
HHS.  With good reason to be.

HHS is proud of their
State Pole Vault Champ.

Greyhound

Thursday was the day for Dog's yearly visit to the doggie spa, aka dog groomer.  I don't know how she feels about this yearly trek, she's usually embarrassed for a day or two but after that she frolics about like a new puppy.

Must be liberating to loose the fur.

Last year she came home from the groomer looking like a Shepoodle.  This year, it's a bit more...minimal.

Here's the before.

And here's the after.

No Poodle feet this year.  The pom-pom tail, history.

This year she's sporting the Greyhound look.

Perhaps we were a bit quick on the draw getting her summer do.  This weekend we were graced with winter-like temps, Saturday the high was 64.  Unheard of for this late in the spring.  Yeah I know, 64 is balmy winter temps for some but for us it's more winter than balmy.

I considered buying a dog sweater for her but decided against it for two reasons.

Reason number one:  It'll be 95 by the end of the week.

Reason number two:  I don't think it's right to put clothes on animals.

Holy, Moley!

You know how excited you get when you win something?

No, I didn't win anything.

You know how excited you get when you run into someone you haven't seen in a bajillion years?

No, I didn't run into a long lost friend.

You know how excited you get when you find money in the pocket of a coat you haven't worn in a while?

No, well, yes, I did find some money.  But that's not why I'm excited.

I'm excited because Pioneer Woman picked one of MY pictures in her latest contest!!!!! PW, in case you don't know, is one very famous blogger. So famous that she will soon have a cooking show on Food Network; so famous that they are going to make a movie about her and her husband's courtship; so famous that she's been on morning TV shows. So to me, getting picked in one of her contests = big deal.

Wanna see which one?

Go here and scroll down to the bottom of the post, mine is the second from the bottom.

Wahhh Whoooo!!!

Okay.  I didn't win anything, BUT, I think it's pretty cool to get picked...'cause there are thousands that enter!  I guess this is like the Oscars, it's an honor just to be nominated.

So, does this count as my fifteen minutes?
